ver after. FOR BUILDING A MCDONALD’S I was exci ted when I heard that our m unity was to have its own McDonal d’s restaurant. I thought about al l those young peopl e who woul d not have to go to the next town to buy their favourite burgers and chips. McDonal d’s cares about healthy eating too and works with scientists to provi de food that i s of hi gh qual i ty, safe and healthy. It i s also cheap . They often provi de salads as wel l as burgers and chips. You can al so choose betwen col a and mi l k shakes(奶昔 ). Of course it al so m eans m ore work for our area that needs jobs badl y. McDonal d’s say they are interested in doing what is ri ght for the m unity and bei ng a good nei ghbour. So I thi nk they wil l be concerned about provi di ng parki ng for the cars i n our mai n street. Many of our young peopl e wil l be onl y too happy to work for the pany. McDonal d’s m akes a promise to the peopl e that work for them . They say,“We val ue you, your growing skil l s and your hel p to the pany. ”I can see nothing but good if this pany es to buil d its restaurant in our town. AGAINST BUILDING A MCDONALD’S I am very worried about McDonal d’s buil ding a restaurant in our hom etown. We are a sm al m unity and we enjoy our l ocal dishes. I am not sure if McDonal d’s food is as healthy as they say in their advertisem ents. When scientists l ok at it careful l y, they fi nd hi gh levels of fat, sugar and salt. Thi s is very woryi ng. Too m any young peopl e are getti ng fat through eati ng too m uch faty food. McDonal d’s is not giving young peopl e a god idea of what a healthy diet shoul d be. Local Chinese food, on the other hand, is ful of fresh vegetabl es and fresh m eat and fish. The food at a McDonal d’s restaurant is al ways the sam e, so I wonder i f i t i s m ade or brought i n from el sewhere. Al though i t is freshl y cooked, i t m ust be l ess heal thy than our own l ocal l y grown and cooked Chi nese fod. I al so worry about al l those cars bringing peopl e to buy food at McDonal d’s. First, there woul d be petrol fumes(气体 ), which wil l m ake our cl ean air dirty. Second, there’s the probl em of al those cars that try to park and prevent other cars from m ovi ng qui ckly through our town. I’m sure m any young peopl e woul d be happy to work for McDonal d’s but wil they be treated fai rl y。 In Am erican, McDonal d’s does not al ow workers’ unions to operate in its restaurants and these are peopl e who speak up for the workers. If, as they say, the workers are happy wi th them , why shoul d they fear som e workers joi ni ng a uni on? So when I consider the food, the cars and the jobs, I think we shoul d not al ow McDonal d’s to buil d their restaurant in our town. Unit 3 the m il li on pound bank note Act I, Scene 3 Narrator: It i s the sum mer of 1903. Two old and weal thy brothers, Roderi ck an dO li ver, have m ade a bet. They woul d be e ti red very qui ckl y. Wang Peng fel t m ore hopeful as he drove back hom e. Perhaps wi th a di scount and a new sign he coul d wi n hi s custom ers back! So he wrote: Want to feel fit and energetic? Com e and eat here! Discounts today! Our food gi ves you energy al l day! The peti ti on between the two restaurants was on! COME AND EAT H ERE (2) A week later, Wang Peng’s restaurant was nearl y ful l and he fel t happier. Perhaps he woul d be abl e to earn hi s li vi ng after al and not have to cl ose hi s restaurant. H e di d not look forward to bei ng in debt because hi s restaurant was no l onger popul ar. H e sm il ed as he wel ed som e custom ers warml y at the door but the sm il e l eft his face when he saw Yong H ui walki ng in. I thought you were a new custom er and now I know that you onl y cam e only to spy on m e and my m enu, ” she shouted. “Pl ease excuse m e, ” he calml y expl ained,“I wanted to know where al m y custom ers had gone l ast week. I fol owed one of them and found them in your restaurant. I don’t want to upset you, but I found your m enu so l imi ted that I stopped worryi ng and started adverti si ng the benefi ts of m y food. Why don’t you sit down and try a m eal ?” Yong H ui agreed to stay and soon they were both enjoyi ng the dum pl i ngs and breast of chi cken cooked wi th garl i c. When they were served the ice cream, Yong H ui began to l ook il . “I feel sick with al this fat and heavy food, ”she said,“I mi ss m y vegetabl es and fruit. ”Wang Peng was enjoying a second pl ate of dum pl ings so he sighed.“Yes,”he added,“and I woul d m iss m y dum plings and fatty pork. Don’t you get tired quickl y?” “Wel , I do have to rest a lot, ”admitted Yong H ui. “But don’t you think it woul d be better i f you were a bit thinner? I’m sure you woul d feel m uch。人教版六年级下册数学教案[1](编辑修改稿)
